Sor, Fernando - (1778-1839)

Fernando Sor was born in Barcelona sometime in February, 1778. He was baptized in Barcelona as José Fernando Macarurio Sors. Sor was a talented musician. He played the guitar and composed when he was eight. Sor became the most well knows guitarist of his time. He wrote some pieces for piano, opera and ballet,but he is best remembered for his guitar studies. He wrote more than 300 pieces for guitar.
